Default X-90 Bobber build

I figured that I would start a new thread to document the X-90 Bobber build. The major frame modifications are dictated by the new seat. The first seat that I received was very nice but way too big for the small frame. I just received the 2nd seat and the size looks a lot better for the bike. We should be able to get started next week. Start to finish, I estimate 250 hours to build the bike. Updates and photos to follow as the project progresses.
Our chief mechanic checked out the donor bike and feels that a mini street legal Bobber is feasable.

ALLLLRIGHT! I've been anxious to see this one happen. I'm on the edge of my seat here. This should be GOOD!

I finally have the bike in the shop. The seat, oil tank, coil, pipe, rear fender, tail light, and license bracket were removed. The frame cut and reweld will require a new oil tank and mounts since the original will be too big. I guess that the oil tank is as good of a place to start. I have some 3.5 inch tubing that should work fine for an oil tank.

Awesome, but your pictures aren't showing. Must be some software issue not allowing them to post.... ... or something... Hmmmm...

The frame was cut and new pieces of tubing and gussets tack welded. The seat was fitted and there is enough support for the rear suspension. I modified a stock license plate/taillight bracket. The lower half was cut away and the entire bracket was moved up so the bracket and license plate will clear the rear fender.

The front forks are in bad shape. The hard chrome needs to be redone. It was cheaper to purchase a NOS Z-90 front end. I just need to cut the tubes down to fit the X-90.

That's too cool! Have you considered slightly larger wheels?

A larger wheel in the rear will not work due to clearance issues. I am using the stock wheels. They are getting black powder coated with red edges and a set of Continentals with big whitewalls.

Sounds good to me. Can't wait to see the progress on it!
